About This Blog

My name is John Rescigno. I am a student at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire, and an avid League of Legends player. For those of you readers who do not play or understand League of Legends, it is a realtime, session-based strategy game. You choose a champion/character to play as, and you and your teammates battle against your opponents.

The purpose of this blog is to help people learn more about the game and champions that they may or may not know about/play. My job is going to be to play these champions and explain the mechanics involved. I.E. I'm going to test out the champion for you and give you tips on items to build, how to level your skills, and even some tricks that not everyone knows.

I look at this as an opportunity for me to improve my gameplay as well as help others to improve theirs. I am all for reader interaction, and I am happy to answer any and all questions asked as they pertain to the game and my content.

Selfishness

I'm selfish. So are you! It isn't a bad thing, especially in solo queue. I enjoy team games much more than solo queue, but to gain elo, you're going to have to go through hell. Crazy stuff happens in solo queue... like a Nasus+Master Yi bot lane. You think I'm joking? Nope!
This game sucked. It sucked for me and everybody else in it. However, due to selfishness and greed, I won. Not my team, ME dammit. Screw my team. They picked a Nasus+Yi bot lane against a real bot lane. Thank Christ Riot made a new item that I absolutely love. Feral Flare. This item is the epitome of selfishness. It increases your attack speed and gives you bonus damage for every jungle monster you kill. To hell with ganking lanes, those people are idiots! Just look at Yi! Three Phantom Dancers... So you all know, that's a bad plan. But if you look at my score, 18/6/10, you'll see how selfish I can be. I built almost full damage. You can get away with that BS in solo queue. You're in it for YOU.
For example, how I ended this hellish game was a bad idea. I dove into the enemy base 1v4 with my team too far behind me. Luckily one of them actually caught up and we killed all five of them. How, you may ask? SELFISHNESS. I dove straight for the Vayne and got her low enough that she had to flash away from me. she went invisible so I dove onto Kha'zix. I got him low, and the stupid bug went invisible. Garen, their tank, I left mostly alone, and I dove AGAIN onto Sona, a squishy support. I stuck my spear up her ass and Vayne came out of stealth. Back onto her! She popped almost instantly. Then the bug showed back up and went splat under my heavy, massive spear. While this was happening, my team was being stupid and focusing the tank as they had been ALL DAMN GAME. It took all four of them, but they got him! ACE! We kicked their faces in and won the game.

Be selfish in solo queue. You cannot count on your teammates to do anything except feed and take your hard-earned kills. A great way to be selfish is to listen to your music rather than to your team. A trick I learned from Bjergsen, a pro mid-laner is to listen to relaxing chill music. Some examples from my playlist include 'In the Air Tonight' by Phil Collins, 'Baker Street' by Gerry Rafferty, and a sweet live version of the Eagles' 'Hotel California'

Being selfish pays off.
